Lancaster vs Hutch Tech

Friday Night the Lancaster Legends will travel to Riverside HS to meet the Hutch Tech Engineers in Week 2 of the 2023 season. This will be a 2nd straight Class AA matchup for the Legends. They are the only team with a victory in Class AA so far in the early part of the season with other teams in Class AA playing each other in Week 2.

Last Time Out

The Niagara Falls Wolverines visited Foyle-Kling Field last week and received the ball on the opening kickoff. They would move the ball and earn a 1st down but would have to punt to Lancaster. The Legends would drive and they would end with a short pass and run around the left side of the line and a touchdown, extra point good, 7-0.

The rest of the 1st Quarter would see play on the south side of Foyle-Kling field and Lancaster score another TD and kick a FG, 17-0. The home team would score again in the 2nd Quarter and would go in the locker room at the half up, 24-0. The Rest of the game would be dominated by the Legends as they would win the game 45-8.

Week 1- Hutch Tech-North Tonawanda

Hutch Tech would be at home last week and play the North Tonawanda Lumberjacks. The teams would go into halftime tied at 6 with NT scoring 1st in the opening quarter and Hutch Tech scoring in the 2nd Q. The Engineers would go ahead in the 3rd with a score but the Lumberjacks scored another TD in the 4th. Going into OT, Hutch Tech opened with the ball and on 2nd down threw a pass into the endzone and scored to go up 18-12. Watch an abbreviated video of the game below:

Lancaster-Hutch Tech History

Hutch Tech and Lancaster have been playing each other every year since 2015. They have played in the playoffs 3 times, 2016, 2017, and 2021. The teams did not play in the regular season in 2017 as there were 11 teams in Class AA compared to this year with 7 teams.

Class AA

In other games this weekend in Class AA, Frontier will be welcoming Orchard Park. In a unique situation for Orchard Park, they have 4 straight away games to start the season as their field is still being worked on. They will have 4 straight home games in the 2nd half of the season when the work is finished. They will have new turf, lights, and the stands have been replaced as well.

Bennett will welcome McKinley to All-High Stadium this week. The 2022 State Champions traveled to Lockport last week and beat the Lions 28-6. Jamestown will travel Niagara County to face the Wolverines on Saturday afternoon.
