Lancaster vs Depew

It is Lancaster/Depew Week, game is Friday Night at Lancaster High School.

Last Time Out

The Lancaster Legends were home last week when they played the private school, the Canisius Crusaders.

The Crusaders would win the coin toss but deferred to the 2nd half. The Legends would receive the kickoff and started at their own 38 yard line. They would be forced to punt the ball after 3 plays and negative 5 yards on the drive.

Canisius would begin their 1st drive at their own 36 yard line. They would move the ball to the Legends 32 where they threw a pass to the end zone which connected for a TD, 7-0, Crusaders.

The squads would each have the ball but neither were able to move it and were forced to punt.

Lancaster had a drive start at their own 35 yard line and on 1st down, ran a screenplay. The WR brought the ball to the Canisius 36 yard line, 1st and 10.

2 plays later a long pass connected with the wide receiver who got the ball to the 9 with a 1st and Goal.

Later in the drive, a pass to a wide open receiver was caught in the end zone for a touchdown.

Lancaster would get the ball again later in the half and drive into the Canisius end. A pass attempt would go up and be intercepted by the Crusaders.

That drive ended with Canisius running into the end zone and going ahead 13-7, the extra point was not good.

Canisius started the 2nd half with the ball at the 50 yard line. They would get to a 4th down and 8 and tried to a pass to earn the 1st down but the ball hit the ground and it was turned over on downs.

The Legends would get the ball and a nice pitch and catch got the ball deep into the Crusaders end.

The same drive would continue and get inside the 10 yard line with the help of a Canisius holding penalty.

The Crusaders defense would hold the Lancaster offense on 1st and 2nd downs but on 3rd, the Legends offense would break through.

A short pass to the RB out of the backfield in the flats was caught and ended in a touchdown, Legends now up 14-13 with 4:55 remaining in the 3rd Quarter

Lancaster kicked the ball off after the TD and Canisius ran the ball to midfield only to see it get brought back to the 8 yard line after a penalty. Three plays were run by the offense but they were never able to earn a 1st down and punted the ball back to Lancaster.

The drive for the Legends started at the Crusaders 41 yard line. On 1st down a pitch to the running back was thrown down the field and caught by a wide receiver at the 4 yard line, 1st and Goal.

A penalty against Lancaster brought the ball to the 9 yard line and a run was driven back to the 13 on 1st down. Those lost yards only helped make room for a pass to the corner where the receiver caught an over the shoulder throw for a TD, 21-13 Legends.

The next Canisius offensive drive ended with an interception by Lancaster at the Legends 49 yard line.

Lancaster would end this drive again celebrating in the end zone after a run crossed the goal-line, Legends up 28-13.

Canisius did not give up in this game and did have a drive deep in Lancasters end. It ended with a bad snap from the center and the Legends falling on it. From there the home team would run out the clock and earn the Win.
