Lancaster vs Hutch Tech

The Section VI Class AA playoffs are kicking off for the Lancaster Legends this Friday night when they welcome the Hutch Tech Engineers to Foyle/Kling Field. This is a rematch of a Week 2 game that the Legends traveled to Riverside HS for. The winner of this game will move on and face the Jamestown/Niagara Falls winner.

Last Time Out

Lancaster faced their cross town rival, the Depew Wildcats last Friday night. Depew received the opening kickoff and started their drive at the 20 yard line. They picked up a 1st down but a long pass would get picked off and returned to the Legends 46 yard line, 1st and 10.

Lancaster would return the favor when on 3rd and long, throw an interception to Depew. Depew's drive start, the Lancaster 41. The Legends defense pushed the Wildcats to 4th down when they attempted a screen. The defense would be up to the challenge and stop the RB before picking up the 1st down.

The Lancaster offense would get moving on that next drive and would get the ball to the Depew 37. On 1st down, they ran a running play and got into the endzone, 7-0.

Depew would earn a 1st down on the next drive but the Legends would stop the offense and force the visitors to punt at the end of the 1st Quarter. The punt Depew would get blocked by the punt return team and return for a touchdown, 15-0 as they went for 2 and got it.

Depew moved the ball across midfield on their possession before facing a 4th and short. They attempted a run play but were stopped by the defense and turned the ball over on downs.

Lancaster ended this drive in the endzone again after a long pass was caught and run for the rest, 22-0 Legends.

Depew would continue to battle and moved the ball over midfield once again on their next drive. They continued to move to the Legends 24 before taking a penalty and a bad snap moved the Wildcats back to the 38 with 56 seconds left in the half. A 4th and 20 would pick up 19 and turn the ball back over to Lancaster.

With under a minute left in the half, the Legends would move the ball down the field to the Depew 18. On a pass attempt, the Wildcats picked off the pass and brought it to midfield where he was taken down, 1st half over.

Depew opened the 2nd half with an onsides attempt but jumped on by Lancaster 1st and 10 at their own 45. The Legends offense moved the ball down the field to the goal-line when a run brought it into the endzone, 29-0.

Lancaster would get the ball again at the Depew 20 after the Wildcats had trouble with a punt. The drive ended with a FG attempt that sailed between the uprights, 32-0.

The next Depew drive ended with a punt that was blocked, 1st and 10 for Lancaster at the Depew 17. The Legends drove the ball to the 1 yard line and got the ball into the endzone, 39-0.

With Depew never giving up, they were able to put together a drive and get the ball into the redzone. At the 16 yard line, they threw a pass into the endzone to bring the final score, 39-7.
