Lancaster vs Canisius

Friday Night the Lancaster Legends will meet the Canisius Crusaders on Foyle/Kling Field. Lancaster comes into the game having played their set of Class AA games for the year going 5-1. This will be the 2nd year these teams will meet with last years game being an instant classic that came down to the wire.

Last Time Out

Lancaster won the coin toss and would defer to the 2nd half. Jamestown would start with the ball at their own 37 yard line and would earn a 1st down but would have to punt at mid-field.

The drive start for Lancaster would be their own 9 yard line. It would not take long for the offense to get going as on the 2nd play a run brought the ball to the Jamestown 43. The offensive line for Lancaster kept the drive moving as they continued to run the ball until they ran into the endzone, 7-0.

The squads would both have the ball but would have to turn it back over until Jamestown would begin a drive and move it down the field. A pass to the end zone would get the Red Raiders on the board and tie the game.

The next drive for Lancaster would start at the Jamestown 47 yard line after a long return on the kickoff. This drive would end in a Touchdown for Lancaster when on the 2nd play, a long run crossed the goal line, 14-7 visitors, 7:22 left in the 1st half.

The teams would again punt the ball back to each other after the defenses would hold.

With 1:42 left in the half and with the ball in Lancasters possession, the rain came down, and after that, the thunder and lightning. The teams would run off the field and back to the locker rooms for a weather delay.

The teams would run back on the field and warm back up after an hour delay. Lancaster would have a 1st and 10 from their own 35 yard line. They did not waste any time as they would throw a pass to a wide receiver and would get two huge blocks by his fellow WR's to run down the field and into the endzone, 20-6. The teams would go into the half for 5 minutes as Jamestown had a drive but were stopped by the Lancaster defense.

The Legends would receive the opening 2nd half kickoff. The ball was received at the 15 and run to the Jamestown 30 yard line for the Lancaster drive start. The Legends moved the ball down the field, picking up 1st downs along the way until they scored another TD, 27-7.

The ball would get back in the hands of Lancaster as the defense stopped a Jamestown possession and forced a punt. The punt return brought the ball to the Red Raiders 30 yard line. The Legends offense once again, did not waste any time and on the first play, crossed the goal line, 34-7.

On the ensuing kickoff, the ball was dropped by Jamestown and when they went to pick it up, was kicked until a Legend jumped on it, 1st and goal from the 7 yard line. One run play up the middle later, the score was 41-7.

Jamestown would score 2 touchdowns late in the game to bring the final to 41-21, Lancaster.

Friday will also mark Senior Night for the Lancaster Seniors on the team. They will be recognized before the game, get their early to see all the families.
