Lancaster vs Niagara Falls

This Friday Night the Lancaster Legends will be on Foyle-Kling Field to face the Niagara Falls Wolverines in a Class AA matchup. The Wolverines are familiar with Foyle-Kling as they played on the field in the playoffs last season which the Legends won 23-0.

Last Time Out

2022 Section VI Championship

The last time we saw the Lancaster Legends football team they were in Orchard Park playing in the Section Champaionship at Highmark Stadium. The team they faced were the Bennett Tigers. The Legends had a fast start to the game as they would return the kickoff back for a touchdown.

The squad would stay close with Bennett in the 1st half and went into halftime down 18-10. The Tigers were the class of the Section in 2022 and would go on and win the game.

Bennett would go on in the State Playoffs and eventually win the Class AA Championship against Newburgh Goldbacks 42-8.

Lancaster-Niagara Falls History

The teams have met 20 times with the first 2 games played in 1921 and 1922. The playoff game the teams played last year was not the first time the schools met in the postseason. In 2009 the Wolverines traveled to Lancaster and played on a rainy, wet field. The teams would have a difficult time moving the ball on a slippery field. Read more about the 2009 playoff game.

Class AA

There are a few changes to Class AA this year. In 2022 the league consisted of Bennett, Hutch Tech, Lancaster, Niagara Falls, and Orchard Park. This year Frontier and Jamestown will be joining Class AA. Frontier has been in the league before when in 2020 they played among the largest schools in the area. Jamestown has been in Class A for the last 3 seasons before making the jump this year.
