Lancaster vs Jamestown

The Lancaster Legends will be traveling on Friday night to Jamestown, NY to meet the Jamestown Red Raiders. Jamestown is undefeated on the season at 5-0. Lancaster will look to rebound after suffering their first loss of the season to Bennett last week.

Last Time Out

Lancaster traveled to Buffalo, NY to face the Bennett Tigers in a key Class AA matchup. The Tigers would get the ball first and were able to get down the field to earn a TD and 2 point conversion, 8-0. When the Legends got the ball they would turn it over back to the home team who would get back in the endzone, 14-0. They would cross the goal line before the 1st Quarter would end, 22-0.

Lancaster started with the ball at the 30 yard line where they were able to drive down the field. They would get into the Tiger end but would turnover the ball back to Bennett.

That drive for Bennett would also end with turning the ball over as they threw an interception. The Legends ran the INT back to the 15 yard line where the offense started their drive.

Lancaster would punch the ball in to get on the board, extra point missed, 22-6.

Bennett got the ball back after the kickoff and scored on a run to the right side, the 2 point conversion failed 28-6.

On the kickoff return the Legends would get the ball to their own 46 yard line. A 4th down would be faced by the offense that was picked up at the Bennett 32, 1st and 10.

A run that was pushed back was negated by an offsides call against the home team. The Legends would complete a pass across the middle of the field and bring it to the 5 yard line. Lancaster would be called for a penalty that pushed them back before having to turn the ball back to Bennett. Halftime saw the Tigers up 28-6 with the Legends getting the 2nd half kickoff.

The kick to start the 2nd half was short and brought to the Lancaster 46 yard line. A pass would bring the ball to the Tiger 39, 1st and 10.

On a 4th and 6, Lancaster would run a pass play that would be knocked down with Bennett taking the ball over. Lancaster would stop the drive and force a punt by Bennett on that next drive. Later the Tigers would get a TD bringing the score to 36-6.

Lancaster got the ball back and was able to drive down the field by both running and passing. At the Tigers 31 yard line, a pass down the middle of the field would get the ball across the goal line.

On the Kickoff the Legends tried an onsides kick and were able to get the ball at midfield. The team would move the ball with runs and penalties against Bennett. They would get within the 5 yard line and a run to the right got the ball into the endzone. They would throw a pass for a 2 point conversion to bring the score to 36-20.

Bennett would get another score to bring the final to 44-20.

2 weeks ago when the Legends hosted Orchard Park, the senior football players and cheerleaders picked a teacher that they appreciated. That teacher walked or ran onto the field to be recognized with those seniors. Thank you to the teachers who were recognized and all teachers who are instructing our young students!
