Last Time Out

The last time we saw the Legends on a football field they were at Highmark Stadium for the Section VI Championship. They were facing familiar foe, the Bennett Tigers. The Tigers were the defending Section Champions and also Defending State Champions.

Lancaster would kickoff to Bennett where they would be stopped on that first drive and forced to punt the ball to the Legends.

The Legends first time with the ball would also end in a punt that Bennett ended up scoring, 8-0.

The Tigers would score in the 2nd Quarter, 14-0. The end of the 1st half would see the Legends start at their own 37 yard line with 5:22 left. Lancaster had a nice pitch and catch that brought the ball to the Tigers 35 yard line. The team would get down to the 3 yard line before being stopped right before the half.

The Legends would start the 2nd half with the ball and they were on a mission. They started the drive at their own 29 yard line. They faced a 4th down early on but picked up a 1st to continue with the ball. Later in the same drive, they would have another 4th down but a penalty against Bennett would give them a 1st at the Bennett 34 yard line. The drive would end with the ball going over the goal line for Lancaster, bringing the score, 14-7.

Bennett would not be out done and after starting the drive at midfield, scored making it 20-7.

In the final quarter, Lancaster would get the ball back after a Bennett fumble.

The Legends would drive the ball deep inside the Bennett end but were stopped and turned over the ball on downs.

Lancaster vs McQuaid

Friday Night the Lancaster Legends will be on Foyle-Kling Field for a match up with the 2023 Section V Champions McQuaid Jesuit Knights.

This will be the 2nd time the teams have faced each other on the gridiron. The first time was in the Far West Regionals in 2019 which was played on a cold night at SUNY Brockport. It was a monumental game that saw lead changes, long passes, a punt return for a TD and a victor. The game may not have gone the way the Legends wanted at the end but they left it all on the field that November night. Watch the highlights and learn more about the game.

2017-2022

Between the years 2017-2022, Lancaster - Bennett from Section VI and McQuaid - Aquinas from Section V have been the 4 teams that have played in the Far West Regional. All 4 teams have played in the State Championship game in that time. Lancaster in 2017, Aquinas in 2018, McQuaid in 2019, and Bennett in 2021 and 2022. The Point here, This is a Big Game in NYS, Buckle Up!

McQuaid Jesuit Knights

McQuaid Jesuit High School is an all-male, Catholic, Jesuit, college preparatory school in Rochester, NY. The football team plays in Class AA and they have won the Section 5 times in a row.

In week 7 of the 2023 season McQuaid played Brighton in arguably one of the better games played in Secion V with a wild ending, Watch the game below:

2023 the McQuaid Jesuit Knights would win Section V and move on in the New York State Public School Playoffs. They faced the Bennett Tigers of Section VI at Williamsville South HS. See a recap of that game below as well:

Around the State in Class AA

Dates and times are set for the Semifinals and Championship. The West Semifinals will be at Vestal HS on November 30th, 2024. The East Semifinals will be at Middletown HS also at November 30th, 2024, both games are scheduled for a 6pm kickoff. The Championship game will be at JMA Dome in Syracuse set for December 7th at 5pm for Class AA.
