Jamestown received the kickoff from the Legends to start off the 2024 Section VI Class AA Championship game.

On a 4th and 1 near midfield, Jamestown would get a 1st down but on the very next play, they would fumble the ball with the Legends jumping on it. 1st and 10 Legends from their own 40 yard line.

Lancaster did not waste time and were able to get down the field, picking up 1st downs along the way.

Lancaster would throw the ball down the field that connected and had a 1st and Goal from the 1 yard line. They would get the ball into the endzone soon after making it 7-0 with 8:05 left in the 1st Q.

The next possession Jamestown would snap the ball over the QB's head and the Legends would jump on the ball, ball at the JHS 39.

The Legends were unable to get the offense going and would end up turning over the ball on downs, Jamestown ball at their own 40.

Jamestown was able to hit on a pass and get into the Legends end, 35 yard line. They would continue moving the ball and get themselves into the redzone. From the 10 yard line, a pass would get picked off by the Legends with no return.

The drive started within the 5 yard, so the Legends threw a screen pass and picked up a 1st down at the 18. The next few plays, Lancaster would be penalized back to the 4 yard line. Facing a 2nd and very long, the Legends QB went back and threw a pass down the left sidelines that was caught and brought out to midfield. They would not be able to get another 1st and were forced to punt, 1st down for Jamestown at their own 21.

Jamestown would not move the offense and were forced to give the ball back to the Legends.

The next drive for Lancaster would face a 4th down play at their own 42 and they went for it. Jamestown would make the stop and get the ball back, 1st and 10 inside the Legends end. They would get to the 5 yard line and run the ball into the end zone, 7-7.

The teams would trade punts on the next possessions of the 2nd Quarter. The Legends would receive a punt with 1:37 left in the half and they moved the ball across the midfield mark on that drive. At the Jamestown 34, facing a 4th and 10, a pass was picked off and brought to the Lancaster 23 with 2 seconds left in the half.

The next play, Jamestown would roll out the QB to the right, pass a ball to the end zone and the ball was knocked around but was caught by a Jamestown WR and brought in the end zone, halftime 14-7 Jamestown.

Lancaster would receive the ball to start the 2nd half, 25 yard line drive start.

The Legends were able to pick up a 1st down and get the ball over midfield and into the Jamestown end. On a 1st and 10 from the Jamestown 38, a pass to the WR to the right brought the ball to the 25. Later in the drive, a fumble by Lancaster was picked up by Jamestown, drive start at their own 16 yard line.

Jamestown were unable to move the ball on that drive and were forced to punt the ball back to Lancaster. A solid return would get a drive start at the Jamestown 43 for Lancaster.

This drive would start with a short run but soon after a pass on 4th and 7 connected and got the ball to the Jamestown 17. The Legends rolled out the QB to the right and he threw a pass to the end zone and it was caught for 6 points, PAT was good, 14-14.

The kickoff for Lancaster would pin Jamestown deep in their end on a nice tackle, 1st and 10 from the 10. Jamestown did not use that as an excuse to give up as they would move the ball to midfield. The defense for Lancaster would rise up to the challenge and sack the QB, forcing a punt on 4th and 32.

The Legends once again would throw the ball deep down the field and connect to the 1 yard line. They would get into the end zone on a run around the right side, Legends up 21-14 with 9:41 left in the game.

Jamestown may have been down but were not out as they would move into the Legends end. On a 3rd and inches from the 2 yard line, a run crossed the goal line, tying up the game at 21.

The next drive start for Lancaster would be their own 26. The offense moved the ball to midfield when on a 2nd and 4 from the Legends 47, threw a pass that was caught and the WR out raced a DB to the end zone for a TD, Lancaster up 28-21.

Jamestown once again moved the ball down the field on the next drive by running the ball. They picked up a 1st down on a pass to the Legends 26 with 32 seconds left in the game. It looked like they would get to the 17 yard line but a penalty pushed them back to the 35. With 22 seconds left, a pass would get picked off and the Lancaster Legends would run out the rest of the clock to win the 2024 Section VI Class AA Championship game.
