Legends vs Spartans

Friday Night the Lancaster Legends are back on Foyle-Kling Field to face the Williamsville North Spartans in a Class AA matchup. These two schools have played each other a total of 9 times with Lancaster holding a 7-2 advantage in the series.

Last Time Out

Lancaster faced the Bennett Tigers when they traveled to All-High Stadium and were behind early in this game, 24-0. Bennett would rush for 547 yards while having 0 yards through the air with 1 INT. The Legends would find their way back in this game when they scored two TD's in the 3rd quarter and another in the 4th Quarter. The team would not be able to go ahead as Bennett would be able to score 3 TD's in a matter of minutes to go ahead 48-24. Read more on Lancaster/Bennett.

The Spartans played Niagara Falls at home on Friday Night and were able to earn a 43-18 victory. Williamsville North was up at the end of 1 Quarter 7-6 before getting 2 more TDs and going into the half up, 22-12. Read more on WN/NF.

The schools may have only played 9 times prior to this game but those games have been memorable.

2017

In 2017, they played at the then New Era Field for the Section Championship Game. It would be the Legends 2nd Championship in a row at the time. Both teams came into the game undefeated and looking to move on in the State Playoffs. Lancaster would be able to avoid mistakes while taking advantage of Williamsville North's errors. 2018

In 2018 the teams played against each other twice, one at WN and one at Foyle-Kling Field. The 2nd at Foyle-Kling field was in the 1st round of the playoffs. Lancaster started the game with a drive that ended with a TD pass to go up 7-0. An interception on the next North drive gave the ball back to the home team that also ended in 7 points. Lancaster up 14-0.

WN would not let their chance slip away and fought back with scores of their own. After their first TD, the extra point was blocked by Matt Marschner which would be critial to the outcome of the game. Two long receptions for the Spartans gave them the lead 20-14 in the 4th Q. Class AA

In other Class AA play tonight will be Clarence/OP game. Both squads are 2-1 and looking to keep pace with the 3-1 Legends and Tigers. Bennett will be playing a Non-League game against Kenmore East.
