Friday night the Legends of Lancaster High School will be traveling to Orchard Park HS to take on the Quakers in a key Class AA matchup. The squads will walk into this game with identical 6-1 records and an eye on the playoffs as this is the last regular season game for both teams. This will be the 37th time the schools have faced each other on the gridiron with OP leading the series 25-11.
Lancaster-OP game the past couple of years has turned into a very meaningful matchup for Class AA. In 2016 the teams met twice with Lancaster blocking a punt at the end of the game and running the ball into the endzone for the winning score. More on that 2016 Game.
The 2nd game was for the right to be called Section VI Champs when the schools met at New Era Field. It would not be as close as the first but still had dramatic moments as the Legends would prevail and move on in the playoffs. Section VI Championship Game! Last week the Legends hosted the Depew Wildcats in the annual rivalry game, the 91st edition of the series. Lancaster would jump out for a score and never look back. Read about it here.
