Lancaster Bee: Legends fall to Aquinas in Far West Regional
TBN: Aquinas runs away from Lancaster in Class AA regional
Saturday afternoon the Legends will be traveling to Clarence HS to play in the Far West Regionals to meet the Aquinas Institute Lil Irish. The series is 1-0 Legends as the two schools have only ever met once. In the Far West Regionals last year the schools met at The College at Brockport where Lancaster came away with a 9-0 win in a defensive battle. The winner of this game will move on in the playoffs and play next week at Union-Endicott HS where either Cicero-North Syracuse or Elmira will be waiting.
The 2018 Section VI Championship was up for grabs last week in Orchard Park at New Era Field where the Bennett Tigers stood in the way of the Legends and a 3rd straight Class AA Championship. The Tigers would get things going early as they ran for a 90 yard TD early on to grab a 6-0 lead. The boys from Lancaster were able to get their offense moving down the field and scored to make the score 7-6 Legends. More on that game here.
Aquinas was able to win against rival McQuaid 49-18 for the Section V Championship played at The College at Brockport. Read on that game here.
The Legends and Lil Irish played an epic game in 2017 that saw both teams come into the game having high powered offenses. The defenses took front and center in this one as neither team gave much and it took everything for the offense to move the ball. Lancaster would have just a little bit more and would find the endzone on a pass to the back end line that put the boys from Section VI up 7-0. The 2017 game can be read here.
