Legends vs Quakers

This Friday night the Lancaster Legends welcome to Foyle-Kling Field the Quakers of Orchard Park. Friday will be the 36th matchup of these two schools with OP holding a 25-10 advantage in the series. Lancaster and Orchard Park have played each other continuously since 1989 with the first ever meeting in 1961. They have met in the Section VI Championship game 3 times, 2001 OP won 30-7, 2007 OP won again 35-0 and last season a 27-7 victory for Lancaster.

This a Class AA match-up that is important to both squads. Lancaster is 2-0 with wins over Bennett and Lockport. Orchard Park was tripped up at home in week 1 against Class A team McKinley 25-7. Week 2 they played Niagara-Wheatfield and were able to pick up the Win 46-30.

Lancaster comes into the 3rd game of the year averaging 51 points in the young season. The team has scored 15 TD's so far, most of them coming in the first half of the 2 games and 11 coming by way of rushing the ball. The offensive line have been creating space as the squad is averaging 208.5 yards on the ground.

Defense Defense Defense!

The offense may get all the headlines and see all the stats in the paper but the defense for the Legends has been just as solid. They have 26 tackles for loss so far. They have 5 interceptions, 5 sacks, and have only allowed 16 points scored against.

Mansell sees some Recognition

QB Ryan Mansell had himself a game last week Saturday against Lockport. He had 10 completions on 11 attempts with 301 yards. With that performance he earned himself a Connolly Cup Nomination nod.

These two squads met twice last year, both in Orchard Park. The first game an epic match that would see the Legends win the game with a blocked punt and a return for a TD.
