Game 2
Lancaster plays this Saturday afternoon against the Lions of Lockport. This will be the 29th match-up with Lockport in the history of Lancaster football, with the Legends leading the series 18-10. Of the last 6 times these to schools have met, 3 of them have been in the Playoffs.
Last week the Legends were able to defeat the Bennett Tigers who had come in as the defending Section VI Class A champs. The Legends would jump out to an early lead and never see the Tigers get close to challenge. Lancaster went into the half with a 42-0 lead.
Lockport was in a fight with host Niagara-Wheatfield but came out on the losing end of a 43-42 decision. Lockport's QB would rush for 171 yards and have 3 rushing TD's as well as tossing for a score.
Andrew Hersey is the Week 1 WGRZ Player of the Week for Class AA. He was also nominated for the Connolly Cup. He had himself a game last Friday night with 118 yards rushing and 23 yards receiving along with 3 TD's.
The last time these two squads would clash would be in the playoffs in 2015. It was a high scoring affair with Lancaster coming out on top, 42-34. Zach Samborski ran for 168 yards and had 4 TD's. Tight End and current Utica Pioneer, Alex Damiani would catch 7 passes for 126 yards and have 2 TD's for the team.
