Legends vs Engineers

Thursday Night the Lancaster Legends will welcome the Hutch Tech Engineers to Foyle-Kling Field in the Class AA matchup. These 2 squads have met 8 times before with 3 of them coming in the playoffs. The Legends have two more home games after playing the Engineers and the last 2 will be on the road.

Legends vs Spartans

Lancaster traveled to Williamsville North High School last Friday night to play the Spartans and came away with a 21-0 victory.

Williamsville North would get the ball first and would be stopped on 3 plays and forced to punt. A penalty would give the ball back to the home team and continue the drive for the Spartans. WN would face a 3rd and 16 on the same drive and attempted a pass that hit the ground. There would be a yellow flag on the field that went against the Legends. The ball would be moved up and it was now 3rd and 1. The next play would see the Spartans get a 1st down and they continued their drive deep inside the Legends end of the field.

Facing a 3rd and short, WN jumped before the snap and were pushed back 5 yards, 3rd and 7. The Legends defense would get in the backfield and sacked the QB to make it 4th and 11. The Spartans went for it on that 4th down and a pass would get defelected but landed on the turf, Legends ball.

Lancaster Defense making a big stop against Williamsville North

The first drive Lancaster would not get going and they punted back to the Spartans.

Williamsville North would not go anywhere on 1st and 2nd down and faced a 3rd and long. The WN QB would throw a pass to the left side of the field and the WR picked up the 1st down at the Lancaster 43 yard line, end of the 1st quarter.

The Spartans would get their run game in gear and moved the ball on runs up the middle and sweeps. They would get a 1st down on a screen play that would see the QB run right but throw back to the left, ball on the Legends 20 yard line. Another run got the ball down to the 4 where the defense stepped up and pushed the offense back with the help of a WN holding penalty. 3 plays and unable to get the TD, the offense would go for it on 4th down. A pass to the RB would be called but the ball did not hit the mark and landed on the ground, 1st and 10 Lancaster at their own 10 yard line.

2 plays into they Legends drive, the ball came loose and a player in green jumped on it, 1st down at the 20 for WN, 7:20 left in the half.

A penalty on 1st down was called on the home team would push them back to the 28, 2nd and 18. A couple of plays later, WN threw the ball to the endzone but a Lancaster DB picked off the pass, 1st and 10 for the Legends at their 10 yard line, 5:35 left.

Lancaster would get their first 1st down in the game and get another on a run up the middle. The drive would continue with a mix of passing and running the ball.

On a 1st down play at the Williamsville North 31 yard line, the Legends QB rolled to the right, threw back to the left and hit his RB. He would catch the pass and run the ball over the goalline, extra point good, 7-0.

WN would get the ball but were unable to move it and go to the half down 7 points.

The Legends would receive the kickoff and on a short kick, the opposing team started the drive at their own 41 yard line.

The first play would result in a 5 yard loss. The Legends would not be deterred as on the very next play a pitch play to the RB resulted in him throwing the ball to a wide open WR who got the ball to the 6. The offense would run 4 plays but were unable to get the ball into the endzone, ball went back to WN.

The Spartans would move the ball and get 1 first down but were forced to punt from their own 17 yard line.

Lancaster started their next drive at their own 47. The Legends would run the ball up the middle and get inside the WN 10 yard line, 1st and goal. Two plays later this time the Legends crossed the goal line and move the score to 14-0.

Lancaster Legends Running Back pulling away

WN would get the ball and move it into the Legends end and would face a 4th down and short. They threw a short pass that connected but were stopped by the guys in the visiting jerseys, ball going back to Lancaster.

The Legends would drive deep into the Spartans end but ended on a interception in the endzone for WN.

The Spartans on their next drive would result in them turning the ball over to the Legends as the defense stopped them on a 4th down play.

Lancaster got the ball back and a few plays later scored to make the score 21-0.

Williamsville North would move the ball late in the game but would fumble with Lancaster jumping on it and ending the game with the ball.

Lancaster/Hutch Tech 2021

In 2021, Lancaster would play Hutch Tech twice on their way to the Section Championship Game. On October 28th, 2021, Lancaster would jump out early and get a quick 2 TD's and kept the pressure on Engineers. Watch the game:
