Section VI Championship Game Location

Section VI has been playing the Section Championship games in Orchard Park, NY for decades. The Stadium name would change from time to time but the location was the same, 1 Bills Drive.

Lancaster has played there 17 times over the years with the first coming in 1985 against Maryvale. From 2016-2024 the Legends were a staple to be in the game going 5-3 in the stretch. In the Spring of 2021 the Section Championship was played at Foyle-Kling Field.

2026 will see a new stadium opening for the Buffalo Bills across the street from the old one. With that new stadium there was uncertainty about where the Section Championship would be held for HS football players in WNY. The uncertainty came to an end when the Section and University at Buffalo agreed to a partnership to host the game at Broadview Stadium at UB.

One goal for all HS football players in Section VI has been to play in OP. With all things, change is certain. The road to Syracuse travels through Amherst, NY for teams in Section VI.

It is great to start the season in Amherst and face the Knights, playing there late in the season would be as well.

Class AA

Section VI Class AA will have a few changes for 2026. Orchard Park has moved class A1. Lancaster and OP have been meeting every year since 1989, a span of 36 years but will come a stop in 2026. Health Sciences Charter Falcons will be making the move to Class AA after have been in Class A. They went to the Section Championship and faced McKinley but would fall to the Macks.

Section III- Syracuse Area

In 2017 goalancasterfootball.com website would hit the internet. During that time the team has had 78 wins and 17 losses. Those 78 wins have been some of the most exciting football Lancaster has played in. The top 5 games with the most points scored have come in that span. Of the most points scored in a season, 7 have come since 2017.

New records for Passing, Rushing, Touchdowns, Sacks, Kicking, and Receiving have all been established during this time.

To mark the year, we are going to be look back at the 10 best games that have been played since 2017. Games both won and lost in these years will be considered with Wins and playoff games having more weight.

Tie - 10. 2024 Lancaster vs McQuaid, 2026 Lancaster vs McQuiad

We start with a tie right off the bat. We have already talked about the 2024 game with McQuaid above. We have very little cross over games between Section VI and V and when they do play it is only at the end of the season. The fact that Lancaster is playing in Game 1 against a Rochester school is a big deal and here is hoping we get more of these.
