Last Time Out

2 weeks ago the Lancaster football team was on the gridiron at Foyle-Kling Field taking on Falcons from Frontier HS. Frontier had the ball first and would be able to move the ball down the field and took up the majority of the 1st quarter. They would eventually have to turn the ball over after a 4th down play in Lancasters end that would be stopped and the Legends took over.

The 1st quarter ended 0-0 but on only the 2nd play of the 2nd Q the Legends punched in for a TD, Lancaster up 7-0. Frontier was able to get on the board with a nifty run from a RB when he seemed to slip through every Legend defender to the endzone, 7-7. More on the Lancaster/Frontier game here.

Quakers vs Red Devils

Orchard Park played in last weeks Semifinal against Clarence and were able to walk away with a 17-0 win for a chance at the Section Championship. The Quakers had the ball first and drove the length of the field before a turnover gave the ball to the Red Devils.

Clarence was unable to do anything with that possession and gave it back to Orchard Park. OP would score and that was really all they needed as their defense would do the rest. More on the OP/Clarence game here.

Lancaster vs Bennett

The other semifinal would have taken place in Lancaster but would be canceled as Bennett was put on Covid-19 pause and unable to play last Friday night. The teams had been getting ready to meet but late Thursday afternoon word got out the game was off. Lancaster would move on and host the winner of the OP/Clarence game.

Legends vs Quakers

The Lancaster Legends will be welcoming the Orchard Park Quakers to Foyle-Kling Field in the Section VI Championship game. This will be the first time that the Section VI Championship will be hosted by Lancaster. The game has always been played in OP at the Home of the Buffalo Bills.

Friday nights game will be the 5th time the 2 teams have faced on another in the Section Championship with it even at 2. OP won the first two meetings in 2001, 30-6 and in 2007, 35-0. Lancaster has picked up the last 2 wins, 2016, 27-7 and 2019, 23-17. The schools have also met in the playoffs in 1993 at Orchard Park HS. The Quarkers won that matchup 14-6.

2019

The Last Section VI Class AA Championship these same 2 teams were vying for the crown and the right to move on in the State Playoffs. Orchard Park would take the lead 10-0 before the Legends were able to get on the board with a 83 yard KO Return made it 10-7.

Lancaster would score again on a pass play in tight coverage and the Legends were in the lead. The Quakers would not go away that easily and would get another on the board and go up 17-14. More on that game can be found here.
