Friday Night the Lancaster Legends welcome the Falcons of Niagara-Wheatfield to Foyle-Kling Field. Friday night will be Senior Night where the team will honor its Seniors on the team.
This will be game 5 of the 2017 season for both squads. Lancaster comes in on a tear so far, 4-0 on the season and leading many statistical categories. Niagara-Wheatfield has a record of 2-2 with wins over Lockport (43-42) and Bennett (28-20). Losses are to OP (30-46) and Grand Island (25-41).
Lancaster leads the series between the two schools 3-0, although the last meeting was back in 2007. The first meeting was in week 1, 1995.
Both sides of the ball have been getting the job done for the Legends. The offense has scored 186 points so far on the season, averaging a meager 46.5 points per game. Jamestown is behind the Legends scoring 138 points through the 4 games.
The defense has held up its end as well as they have allowed only 44 points. They are averaging 11 points per game scored against them. They face their stiffest test to date as the Falcons have scored 126 points.
When these 2 schools square off this Friday night it will be for only the 4th time. The last time was at Niagara-Wheatfield HS where Lancaster was able to pick up a 42-0 win. Niagara-Wheatfield and Lancater came into the game each with a record of 4-2.
Niagara-Wheatfield had wins against Starpoint (21-13), Williamsville North (34-13), Niagara Falls (13-6), and West Seneca West (24-21 OT).
Lancaster had played and beat Jamestown (21-18), West Seneca West(10-7), Clarence (14-7), and Frontier (21-14).
