The last time the Lancaster football team played they were at New Era Field where they would face off against Section V opponent Victor. The squad from the Rochester area would prevail and would turn into the state runner-ups for 2016.
That was last year, every team is back to 0-0 and will once again race to the finish line in Syracuse.
This Friday night the Lancaster Legends return to Foyle-Kling Field to take on the Bennett Tigers in a Class AA matchup.
Bennett would also see their season end in Orchard Park in the Far West Regionals losing to Greece Athena. They were in Class A last year but have since jumped up to Class AA for 2017.
Week 2 Lancaster will travel north to meet Lockport for a Saturday afternoon game, 1 of 2 Saturday games this season for the Legends.
September 9 the squad will welcome the Quakers of Orchard Park for a rematch of the Section VI Championship Game. 2016 the Legends were able to beat OP twice, the first being an epic battle that would see the game won on a late blocked punt.
The 2nd Saturday afternoon game takes place in Niagara Falls on 9/23, 2pm kickoff.
Week 5 Niagara Wheatfield will make their way to Foyle-Kling Field for a 7:30pm kickoff. Lancaster and N.W. have not played each other since 2007 with the Legends holding a 3-0 record against them.
On October 6th, the Lancaster football team will make their way down to Strider Field to take on Jamestown with a 7pm start time. This will be the 49th matchup between the 2 schools. Outside of Depew, Jamestown and West Seneca West are the 2 schools that Lancaster has played most, both sitting at 48 meetings. The last time the Legends played the Red Raiders in Jamestown, Lancaster would prevail, a 46-41 victory.
